Discussion Forums

Definition:

An online discussion group where users, usually with common interests, can exchange open messages:

• Issue-based fora, i.e. organised around policy issues that have been formulated by policy-makers, interest groups or "experts", and presented as the heading of one or more discussion "threads". Responses are sought in order to gauge opinion or solicit ideas. Position statements, links to topic-related websites and other background information may also be presented, although they are often lacking.

• Policy-based fora, i.e. organised around themes/issues that relate directly to a draft policy that is meant to address these, and where discussion threads are intended to solicit responses from those affected. Participants might be encouraged to submit alternative ideas and suggestions but the format implies that what is being sought is an indication of how far the participants agree (or not) with the proposals, and why.

Concerto's Discussion feature lets you create and post discussions on your site. Some of the uses are for Customer Service, Research and Development, Support Groups, Strategic Planning, in short, just about anything imaginable. The user authentication keeps the outside world out of your forums.

what is touchscreen?

A touch screen is a computer display screen that is also an input device. The screens are sensitive to pressure; a user interacts with the computer by touching pictures or words on the screen. There are three types of touch screen technology:
  • Resistive: A resistive touch screen panel is coated with a thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layer that causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touch event and sent to the controller for processing. Resistive touch screen panels are generally more affordable but offer only 75% clarity and the layer can be damaged by sharp objects. Resistive touch screen panels are not affected by outside elements such as dust or water.
  • Surface wave: Surface wave technology uses ultrasonic waves that pass over the touch screen panel. When the panel is touched, a portion of the wave is absorbed. This change in the ultrasonic waves registers the position of the touch event and sends this information to the controller for processing. Surface wave touch screen panels are the most advanced of the three types, but they can be damaged by outside elements.
  • Capacitive: A capacitive touch screen panel is coated with a material that stores electrical charges. When the panel is touched, a small amount of charge is drawn to the point of contact. Circuits located at each corner of the panel measure the charge and send the information to the controller for processing. Capacitive touch screen panels must be touched with a finger unlike resistive and surface wave panels that can use fingers and stylus. Capacitive touch screens are not affected by outside elements and have high clarity.
Sarawakian Traditional Costume
Orang Iban Costume
This is our traditional costume for the ladies. Nowadays, eventhough most of us already leave our longhouse and live in a city, we never miss to come back home during our festive season called Gawai Padi. The ladies’ costume consists of glass beads, silver and gold jewelleries and self made clothes consist of selampit and kain. For the hair, the ladies are wearing sugu tinggi which also made of silver and other type of accessories.

Orang Ulu Costume
includes the major Kayan (15,000) and
Kenyah tribes, the Kajang, Kejaman, Punan, Ukit, and Penan (10,000) tribes, and recently, the tribes of Lun Bawang, Lun Dayeh and Berawan and Kelabits highlanders (3,000). Collectively these different tribes make up about 5.5% of Sarawak’s population. The costumes of the Orang Ulu are as varied as the diversity of the tribes themselves. In general, beads and heavy silver or brass jewellery are used by the womenfolk as part of their traditional costume.
